A project for da boy

Dear Daughter got a fairy, Dear Son got a DSi Cozy.

These are the perks of having a knitty momma.

And here she is…(plus a bonus joke)

Miss Fairy Belle

I kinda want to keep her for myself.

:)

Anyway, the birds have been showing up lately.  Must be the big bag of birdseed I recently bought.

And the tomatoes have been growing like mad.  There hasn’t even been any sun for days upon days. Just rain.

My ds told me a funny joke today.  I think he really made it up.  Really.  Because he’s brilliant.  I also got his report card in the mail today.  Let me just say, he doesn’t get it from me.  :):) Anyway, here’s the joke:

Why did the fish cross the ocean?

To get to the other tide.

funny, right?

ambitious knitting project

I’m in the throws of a knitting project.  It’s a fairy doll for my wee little daughter.  It’s very tedious.

Work in progress:

Spring Boutique is finished.

I sold 5 items and one custom order.  Pretty good for a small affair?  I think so.  Here’s a picture of my booth:

I gave 30% to charity.

Then, I bought these two items from the other sellers there:

a rug and a collage.

I’m happy.

Now, time for gardening!!!!

The Spring Boutique is this weekend

Sorry for the delay in posts. I have been busy knitting and knitting, so much so that my knitting peeps had a bit of intervention with me. You see, my hands have been going numb at night. They said it’s unnatural the amount of knitting I’ve been doing.  But I want my inventory to be quite sufficient enough at the show.  I want to be able to donate some cashage to good causes and also take a bit home for myself.  After that, I will take a small break from knitting, or go a bit more slowly.  I’ve been thinking about a cabled handbag for weeks now.  I might just do a few rows a day or week, whatever I fancy.  And whatever doesn’t sell at the show will be put in the shop.

Anyways, besides Knitting I’ve also been going to birthday parties.

For my niece, who turned 4.

and a girlfriend, who turned 30.

I went to an award ceremony for my ds, who won two trophies and a scholarship for bowling. (He’s on the right and his buddy is on the left)

Well, lovelies, I’ll be writing again after the show to tell you how it went…

Till then, xxoo, momma

busy working on Spring Boutique.

This is bananas.

Does anyone else think it’s ironic that I took ‘you’re writing sucks’ as ‘write more often?’  Ironically, I think of two things whenever I say ironic, which isn’t very often because of these things: 1. that song by Alanis Morissete and 2. that scene in Reality Bites.

I can just sense my mom reading this right now.  She’s saying, “move on dot org.”

Anyway, I had an overdue book.  Had.  I don’t have it anymore, because I brought it back to the library, because they sent a notice in the mail, because it was really, really late, because I really loved it and I think I want to buy it.  Makes no sense, right?  I’ve already paid for a portion of it.  Let’s see, about 14 days overdue at 25 cents a day equals 3.50.  The book is 11.20, new.  If I buy it, it will have cost me 14.70.

I can sense my mom reading this, saying, ‘why do you do this to yourself?’

Well, mom, move on dot org. :D  I see it as donating to the great socialist cause of the library system.  I mean, really, without all of my late fees, could the library system survive?  Um, I think not.

Anyway, when I went to drop it off at the drop box at the library – no way was I going in – I pulled in behind a big ol SUV.  The drop box is approximately 20 feet or less from where you stop your car.  (when are you gonna install some drive thrus, people?  This is exactly where I want my money to go. (kidding.))  The SUV lady turned on her car alarm!  This just floored me.  Who’d she think was gonna steal her car?  Me? Ha.

You want to know what the infamous book is, don’t you?

Knitting for Good!: A Guide to Creating Personal, Social, and Political Change Stitch by Stitch.

Ahem, honey, are you reading this? :)

Well, back to laundry.  I’m about to post a pic of my laundry piles.  PILES!!!  Good Lord.  I’m either really crackers for showing you this picture or for having this much laundry to do, or both!  Either way, I’m crackers.  Note: I used my handy dandy thesaurus for ‘crazy’ and this was one of the words.  I never thought of using cracker as ‘one that cracks.’  FYI, you can also say ‘bananas’.

(it’s in black and white, because everything looks better in black and white, wouldn’t you say?)

busy momma.

Well, have I told you I’m a blogaholic now?  Yes.  What’s the deal?  I feel like I have been missing out.  I mean, so much inspiration is out there.  Who knew?  You probably did, didn’t you?

Anyway, I made a small bunting with the Holly Hobby fabric.  More princess birthday decoration? Perhaps.

I’ve been sticking to my handmade challenge faithfully.  Isn’t it hard to decorate and prepare for a princess party on just handmade?

That’s when a fabulous idea came to me.

My own store. On Etsy.  A Handmade Princess.  It’s empty right now, but I am working on wares to put in there.  Like, for example, these awesome princess leg warmers (sorry, THE princess decided she wants them, so I’ll have to make more for the store.)

Speaking of princess, does anyone else find that their 3 (almost 4) year old princess is a little quirky and you find her little fairy like doings around the house and you giggle, but then wonder how she’ll be as a teenager?  Like this:

Here was my chai tea cup, flipped over, with a pen set to the side of it.  Hmmm.

I found the top of that cup on top of my pen jar IN THE FRIDGE! Double hmm.

Well, friends, time to get back to making stuff for my store.  (Note: Soon, I will have two stores, as I am collaborating with Kristy, aka Tinkerknits, on another etsy collection of awesome things.  More to come..

Here’s some inspiration.

Good day, Lovelies!!!

momma’s sticking to resolutions.

I’ve been knitting, of course.

Here’s a coffee mug cozy I made for dh:

That was my first attempt at cabling.  It was easier than I thought.

I’ve also been on my detox.  Well, I am finished now.  It was just four days, but a gruesome four days. Kidding (kind of).  It went well; my ability to not munch on crap all day (like I normally do).  It was a great test of my will power.  To know you have control is quite empowering.  Funny how little things like having control over what you put in your mouth everyday keep your spirits strong.

Day one back into the swing of things (post detox) and I had pizza, cheesy tortillas, and chocolate.  I am so naughty.  So much for will power, right?  But I think how my intestines were wreaking havoc was exactly what I deserved.  And so, at dinner, I made spinach with almond crusted chicken (a healthy, detox friendly recipe) with a sprinkle of cheese on top.  I thought the kids were going to detest.  But, like I’ve said before, my kids aren’t normal kids.  Look what happened:

Before:

After:

Pretty impressive, right?

Anyway, the detox was a good start to tweaking my diet (and my kids’).  No more pizza and cheesy quesadillas.  Except on Fridays.  Because, well, that’s our tradition.  :D

Oh. Guess what.  I need a new pair of jeans.  I have a hole in the inner thigh.  Pooh. They’re my favorite jeans.  But I made a pledge to buy only handmade, recycled, or reused.  So, A-Ha, I had an idea!  Patch it.  I know you’re thinking, ‘duh. hello.’, but, hey, I used to buy new undies when laundry was overdue.  Okay, well, not recently, but there was a time.

I haven’t gotten out my handy dandy sewing machine in a while.  I was thinking of where to plug it when I remembered I had some iron on patches.  Niiiice.  I am TOTALLY sticking to my resolution. Yay me, I rock.

Here’s a shot of my inner thigh:

Lovely, isn’t it?

Happy New Year.

I knit a wine cozy for the hosts of tonight’s kegger.  My dh and I have not been out on New Years in forevahhh.  I am sooo stoked!
